Cockcroft-Walton charge pump rectifies an AC input voltage by the ladder of capacitors and diodes. It output is an N multiplication of the pea-to-peak input voltage (where N is the number of the capacitors used in the right-hand side of the ladder. See the diagram). This circuits is used to generate an acceleration voltage of SEM (scanning electron microscope) or CTRs (cathode ray tubes). It is suitable for capacitive load such as electrostatic Microactuator.
